Close to the animal brain is the amygdala, deep in the feeling brain. It acts like a fire alarm to stress. Sends a powerful chemical message to the animal brain to activate.

When the amygdala sounds off the alarm it is an instinctive automatic response that cannot be derailed. 

Three survival mechanisms can happen when the amygdala is activated.
