Hi! You may know me by my social media name, the RECESS DOCTOR. I spent 29 years in public schools in California as a teacher, principal, and county office administrator.

I finished my doctoral work at U.C.L.A. I was a principal struggling with the discipline problems at recess. I soon learned that most schools face the same thing on their playground. Remembering that recess was MY favorite activity at school I set out to make it an enjoyable place for students.

What I discovered may surprise you. Through observation and research on the playground, I learned that most playground problems fall into 5 main areas. I call them the Peaceful Playgrounds Creed. These problems and my solutions make up the Peaceful Playgrounds Recess Program today.
